notes

The delightful tulip La Belle Époque is a late flowering fully double variety. It has large, multi-petalled flowers, full and ruffled like a peony, in late spring or early summer. It is an unusual pinkish-apricot – maturing to nearly terracotta – that is paler towards the outer edges of the petals, resulting in an alluring resemblance to old silk.

Insights

Pair with coppers, lilacs, deeper pinks and purples for a richly feminine combination. The stems are tall and strong, but like other tulips it is heavy headed so plant in a sheltered spot. It is a beautiful bloom to cut for the house.
