Tipple Table: Christmas Favourites

Burford Garden Company
For a suitably cool reception

An ideal candidate for Christmas party clinking, this traditional sparkling wine from the Loire is fine and fruity, with great finesse. Produced in the small wine-producing village of Thésée using sustainably farmed grapes, it offers stunning floral and orchard fruit notes on the palate, complemented by hints of brioche and honey. Expect many refill requests from friends and family alike.

It’s Christmas after all

When choosing something a little special for the big day itself, why not elevate your fizz to truly meet the occasion? Be sure to pick up a bottle of Arnaud Tabourin’s Champagne Brut Tradition NV. A structured and deliciously Pinot Noir-dominant Champagne, it offers notes of orchard fruits and berries. Interestingly, the location of the vineyard in the village of Les Riceys, bordering the northern Côte d’Or, means its Pinot Noir grapes are afforded a wonderfully Burgundian character.

An elegant, alcohol-free option

A great choice for those not drinking but still wanting to join the party spirit, Amie’s alcohol-free sparkling rosé is an ever-popular alternative. Crafted using Grenache grapes and enhanced with fine fizz, Amie describes it as ‘liberated’ from alcohol without the use of evaporation. The reverse osmosis process employed allows for full preservation of the wine’s natural aromas while keeping residual sugars low. Consequently, it contains less sugar than many other non-alcoholic wines on the market, leading to a much more authentic taste.

A dependable dining companion

Following a brief absence, we are delighted to welcome back Château Gassiot’s elegant Côtes de Bourg to the shelves of our Food Hall. An ideal choice to complement a classic Christmas dinner, this soft and fruity Bordeaux is well developed, lending itself magnificently to roast turkey’s succulent yet not overly rich flavour. A returning favourite that certainly proves that absence makes the heart grow fonder.

French fancies

A gift for those with a sweet tooth, and ready to serve after the main course, this selection of creamy and clear French liqueurs will help to cap off your Christmas dinner. Each inspired by the richness of the Breton terroir and boasting beautiful colours, these liqueurs are best served chilled, poured over plenty of ice. A dessert in a glass.

Uncork for the Stilton

Ideal for complementing a cheeseboard, Churchill’s Reserve Port is rich, complex and unusually fruity. Offering distinctive wild berry aromas, this signature house blend is beautifully balanced. Matured in seasoned oak vats for around three years, this rich, complex and unusually fruity port will also pair perfectly with your figgy pudding, making it a great alternative to brandy. If you’re looking to really push the boat out this year, you’ll find all you need to make the most of your cheeseboard selection in our well-stocked Cheeseboard Hamper.

To close, a touch of sparkle

Last but by no means least, our mulled gin liqueur is the perfect tipple to help you settle into your Christmas evening. Crafted with London gin flavoured with some of the finest British-grown botanicals, this aromatic infusion offers festive notes of sweet orange, cinnamon, ginger and nutmeg. Excellent in a glass of fizz, or when shaken with vermouth to create a Christmassy mulled martini, this liqueur comes presented in a decidedly giftable glass star bottle.
