Department Manager - Plants and Gardens

The role encompasses the day-to-day running of our extensive Plants and Gardens department, ensuring the highest standards of presentation, visual merchandising and customer service are always maintained.

Burford Garden Co is recognised as one of the country’s leaders in horticultural retailing and we are looking for candidates with 5-10 years’ relevant experience gleaned from a similar, high turnover and high-quality retail environment. As well as having an in-depth knowledge of plants and gardening, you will need to be a good communicator, comfortable managing at scale, with a sharp eye for detail, an excellent grasp of visual merchandising and the ability to lead and motivate a large and talented team. You will be used to managing substantial budgets and the controls associated with a large retail business and be an adept planner and organiser. You will need to be a team player, working alongside our Horticultural Buyer to continually deliver inspiration and the best possible service to our customers, whilst contributing to the wider management of the store with your peer group of Department Managers.

All candidates must be able to work alternate weekends, with a fixed weekday off each week. We offer a generous salary and benefits which will reflect the skills and experience you can bring to us.
