Clematis Arabella is known as a semi-herbaceous perennial, a non-clinging variety that will scramble through neighbouring shrubs. Its compact nature also allows it to sit comfortably in a container where it will need a short support or obelisk for growth. From July- September it bears masses of small blue flowers, that appear as violet, before fading to light blue.

Clematis need their roots to be cool and their heads in the sun, so plant with roots shaded by other plants. Moreover, they will add vertical interest to the garden or provide colour to a plain background, such as a fence or wall. Clematis Arabella is is a recipient of RHS AGM (Award of Garden Merit), for all round excellence.
