notes
The free flowering, Clematis Crystal Fountain is so called because the pale purple flowers open to reveal an explosion of fine, petal-like stamens, which charmingly resembles the spray of a silvery/purple fountain.
Insights

This clematis (Evipo038) looks lovely grown through other wall-trained plants and is excellent planted in a container on a terrace, against a wall or up a trellis. Large flowered clematis were introduced from the Orient in the 19th century, but Old Man’s Beard (Clematis vitalba) commonly seen in British hedgerows, is an indigenous relation.

Details

Flowers: From late spring to early autumn

Planting
  • Moist, well drained
  • Full sun, partial shade
  • South, west facing
  • Sheltered
Care

As Clematis like cool roots, try to position so that the roots will be shaded from the sun by another plant. Bear in mind the space and support they will need. Plant 5-8cm beneath the surface of the soil to encourage new ground shoots. Minor pruning to tidy in early spring and after flowering
