Features

notes

The vigorous perennial, Nepeta 'Kitten Around’ is a compact form of the humble catmint, with aromatic silvery green foliage, and, from mid-summer, spikes of small, violet flowers. Forming a low dense mound in the border, or edging a pathway, it makes a great alternative to lavender, its flowers also a magnet for bees.

Insights

Catmint is thought to have been first cultivated in the Roman town of Nepeti (otherwise known as Nepeta) where it was used as a herbal tea and insect repellent. It's delicious used sparingly in salads and warm soothing teas. Cats often find the scent irresistible, as do butterflies and bees. A wonderful long flowering burst of colour for the garden.
