Also known as the Rice Paper Plant, Tetrapanax papyrifer 'Rex' is a large, shrub which grows quickly, its stems producing really large, lobed leaves (up to a metre wide), which are covered in a fine, brown down when young. In autumn, creamy white pompoms of flowers are produced, attracting bees and other pollinators, followed by black fruit.
