This evergreen Chilean guava, or Strawberry Myrtle is indeed a Pretty Berry. The self-fertile shrub is bushy and upright, bearing fragrant, white bell-shaped flowers, which are attractive to pollinators. These are followed by round, red edible berries with a flavour profile of strawberry, spiced pineapple and guava! One of the last berries to harvest before winter, the plant offers a great extension to any kitchen garden.

Introduced from Chile to Europe in the mid 19th century, it quickly became Queen Victoria's favourite fruit. Ugni Molinae Pretty Berry can be grown in a container, which is ideal for a small garden or terrace, that can be removed to a conservatory for the winter months.
