notes

Hameln is a charming, compact ornamental grass that forms a low, rounded mound. In late summer it has long-lasting catkin-like flowers that seem to shimmer in the breeze. You won't be able to resist stroking as you go past. The flowers turn silvery as they age, and the bright green leaves turn yellow in autumn.

Insights

As it is a fairly undistinguished plant until the flowers appear, underplant with spring bulbs or pair with early flowering perennials such as Verbenas or Sedums. Intrigued by the name? 'Hameln’ refers to the Pied Piper's town of Hamelin, in Germany.
