notes
Helleborus Walberton's Ivory Prince is one of the latest Christmas roses, flowering in late winter until mid-spring. The exquisitely marked ivory flower heads, so typical of this family, open from dark pink buds and as they mature flush with green and pink. Always welcome in the winter, this variety generously bridges the gap until bulbs and blossom take over.
Insights

All hellebores have been carefully bred from the Christmas or Lenten Roses (Helleborus niger), to produce exceptionally robust varieties that flourish in our climate. The beautifully marked ‘petals’ are sepals (the petals modified to become nectaries), which is why the flowers last for so long. Harmful if eaten, may cause skin allergy

Care

Leave foliage to protect the young buds, but as the hellebore flowers, remove the old foliage to reveal the blooms, this looks attractive and helps to prevent disease. Top dress with fertiliser in autumn.
