notes

Intensely flavoured, Marjoram is a perennial shrub, Pot Marjoram (Origanum vulgare) is also known simply as Oregano, although the leaves have a slightly milder flavour than those of Greek Oregano. Loose clusters of pink or white flowers appear from July to August above the strongly aromatic, dark green leaves.

Insights

The young leaves and flowers are used for tea infusions and cooking in dishes containing garlic, tomatoes, chillies and onions. An excellent herb for drying, but harvest the leaves just before the plant starts to flower for the strongest flavour.
