notes

Heuchera Obsidian is a semi-evergreen perennial, with a clump forming habit, notable for its dark, reddish foliage that turns almost black as it matures, which bears a glossy sheen. This colour is held throughout the season and is especially eye catching when contrasting with other colours, particularly silvery shades. In summer, nectar rich, dainty cream flowers are held aloft tall stems and are most attractive to butterflies and other pollinators. It is a recipient of RHS AGM (Award of Garden Merit), for all round excellence.

Insights

Useful as groundcover or underplanting roses and shrubs, Obsidian also works well in a container or hanging basket, offering interest year-round. It is mainly evergreen but in harsh weather or exposed areas it may lose some or all its leaves, before new growth in spring.
