The colour of the foliage is an eye-catching blue, a perfect foil for the summer flowers which hang like elongated purple bells from strong stems. Insights
Hostas are native to the far east but were introduced to Europe in the 1800s and became instantly popular. They are spectacular when planted alongside other shade loving plants such as heuchera, dicentra or ferns.

Care
In slug prone areas, plant in a container raised on gravel and water, otherwise in a dappled border. Deadhead spent flowers and removed foliage as it dies back in the autumn.
