Features

notes
Hosta Big Daddy produces, as you might expect, impressive leaves (up to 25cm long). A lovely glaucous blue/green colour,  the foliage has a handsome quilted texture due to the deep veining. This variety flowers particularly early, its decorative lilac blooms hanging like elongated bells from strong stems. Wonderful as companion plants, Hostas are a boon in dappled shade.
Insights

Hostas are native to the far east but were introduced to Europe in the 1800s and became instantly popular. They are spectacular when planted alongside other shade loving plants such as heuchera, dicentra or ferns. Because this is a sieboldiana hybrid, this hosta is less prone to attack from slugs

Care

In slug prone areas, plant in a container raised on gravel and water, otherwise in a dappled border. Deadhead spent flowers and removed foliage as it dies back in the autumn.
