- Sow: April -July
- Flowers: June - August (following year)
- Perennial
- Soil: Well‑drained, fertile soil
- Aspect: Light shade to partial sun
- Indoors: Sow thinly in trays of seed compost, pressing seeds lightly into the surface (do not cover). Keep moist and place in a cold frame or cool greenhouse.
- Outdoors: Sow in prepared seedbeds, cover lightly with fine soil and keep moist.
- Spacing: Thin or transplant seedlings to about 25 cm (10″) apart once established.
Keep soil evenly moist during establishment. Once settled, Lutea is relatively low‑maintenance but benefits from mulching to retain moisture. Plants will often self‑seed naturally if spent stems are left, offering new plants year after year.
