A Giant Dutch Crocus (Crocus vernus group): robust and prolific, producing 2–3 blossoms per corm on sturdy stems—ideal for dramatic, low-maintenance swathes of spring colour.
Flowering Time: February–March
- Soil: Prefers moist but well‑drained soil
- Aspect: Thrives in full sun to partial shade
- Planting Time & Depth: Plant in autumn (September–December) at 7–10 cm deep, spacing 5–8 cm apart for optimal naturalising effect
- Bulbs are toxic to pets or humans if ingested
- Corms are vulnerable to mice and squirrels
- If planted in lawns, do not mow for six weeks after they have flowered to allow the foliage to provide energy for the corms (for next year’s flowers)
