- South, East or West aspect
- Full sun
- Sheltered position
- Planting Time and Depth: Autumn (October onwards)
- Plant in a container with good drainage, ensure drainage holes are not blocked with compost by utilising crocks or gravel
- For a three layered bulb lasagne, allow a planting depth of 30-40cm to allow room for the bulbs and layers of compost.
- Plant the tallest growing and latest flowering bulbs at the bottom of the pot (plant densely for a full display, but make sure they are not touching each other or the sides of the pot), add a layer of compost and repeat up the pot in order of flowering, planting the smallest and earliest flowering bulbs closest to the surface, before adding a final layer of compost.
- Protect from excessive wet and strong winds
- Bulbs are toxic to pets or humans if ingested and may cause skin allergy
- Deadhead as flowers fade but allow leaves to die back naturally
- Protect from squirrels and mice
