- Sow: March - April
- Harvest: Late summer
- Soil: Rich, moist, well‑drained compost or potting mix
- Aspect: Warm, sunny, sheltered position (greenhouse or polytunnel recommended)
- Sow thinly (about 1 cm deep) in trays or modules at around 25 °C with cover to retain humidity; remove cover when seedlings appear. Prick out into individual pots when about 5 cm tall, and grow on until ready to plant out into growbags, large pots or greenhouse borders. Space plants roughly 45–60 cm apart.
Capsicum crops appreciate steady warmth and moisture. Protect young plants from cold drafts and feed regularly with a balanced liquid fertiliser once fruit set begins. Supporting plants with stakes or canes helps keep blocky fruit off the ground and encourages better airflow.
