With its large showy flower heads, Agapanthus Pitchoune Blue, also known as an African Lily, has a great impact in a cottage garden. From its clump of strap-like leaves emerge tall stems topped with large heads of trumpet shaped pale blue petals, each delicately marked with a darker stripe down the centre.

As a clump forming perennial, this variety of Agapanthus is a more compact form, so is ideal for planting in a container or small garden, where its long flowering season can be enjoyed to full effect.

  • Flowers: June - September
  • Hardy
  • All soil types
  • South or west facing
  • Full sun
  • Sheltered
  • Cut back complete flower stems as they fade
  • Remove any old leaves as they die back
  • If planted in a container, repot once the plants become too congested
