Features

notes

Astrantia Star of Billion provides good ground cover in the middle of the herbaceous border with a lush mound of deeply cut, attractively shaped leaves. From within this foliage emerge thin but strong stems, supporting the pin-cushion shaped flowers. The outer petals are finely serrated and delicately tipped with green to echo the colour of the inner florets.

Insights

Being extremely vigorous and prolific, its attractive blooms are excellent for using in cut flower arrangements. In seasonal arrangements it provides the perfect foil for other indigenous flowers, for example the lime green froth of Alchemilla Mollis; it can also be dried and stored for decorative use in winter.
