notes

A wonderful addition to any garden, Borage is well loved for its sky-blue flowers that bees absolutely adore. This herb emits a cucumber smell from its bristly foliage and the edible flowers can be enjoyed as a garnish on drinks or salads. It’s an annual plant but does like to self-seed.

Insights

It’s also a useful companion plant, with its foliage known to reduce attacks of hornworm when planted between tomato plants. At the end of the year, if plants are added to the compost heap, the mineral rich leaves add trace elements to the soil.
