Wild Scabiosa are surprisingly a member of the teasel family, found throughout Europe and common in Britain, proliferating especially on chalky downland. They are a familiar but beloved wildflower, the attractive heads held high above their deeply cut foliage and above surrounding grasses in wildflower meadows.
