- Sow: Late March – mid‑May
- Harvest: Leaves can be picked continuously from early summer; seeds when mature later in the season
- Annual: Coriander is a hardy annual and best sown direct where it is to grow
- Soil: Light, fertile, well‑drained
- Aspect: Full sun or light shade in hotter regions
- Sowing: Direct sow into open ground in late March to mid‑May. Sow seeds about 1–2 cm deep in drills, then thin seedlings as they grow to avoid crowding.
Coriander dislikes transplanting, sowing direct helps prevent leggy growth and premature bolting. Harvest leaves when young for the best flavour; pick continually to encourage fresh regrowth. If you wish to collect seed, leave some plants to flower and set seed later in the season.
