notes

Large, white, trumpet shaped flowers, reminiscent of hollyhocks, cover this medium sized shrub throughout summer and into autumn, making an excellent cut flower. A member of the mallow family, Lavatera enjoys a sheltered position in full sun but needs protection from the cold winter winds.

Insights

Lavatera flowers on its new growth so prune in early spring (after the risk of frost has passed) for a long lasting flowering season, and to control its somewhat leggy growth.
