Catmint is thought to have been first cultivated in the Roman town of Nepeti (otherwise known as Nepeta) where it was used as a herbal tea and insect repellent. It's delicious used sparingly in salads and warm soothing teas. Cats often find the scent irresistible, as do butterflies and bees. A wonderful long flowering burst of colour for the garden.
