notes
Exploding Agapanthus flower heads have become integral to the summer cottage garden. From evergreen mounds of strap-like leaves, Agapanthus Everwhite sends up multiple stems which support umbels of startling white trumpets. A semi-dwarf variety, this African lily flowers for a long period in a border or container, cut flowers lasting two weeks in a vase.
Insights

Originally from South Africa, Nile or African lilies grew from the Cape Province to the Limpopo River. Trade meant that the Agapanthus, under various names, arrived in Europe in the 17th century when it was mainly grown in hothouses. Modern breeding means these flowers now bloom in British gardens. It is a recipient of the RHS AGM (Award of Garden Merit), for all round excellence.

Care

Consider where they are native to understand their treatment - they love sun, and dislike damp, heavy soil. In containers, they are surprisingly happy to become packed in, however if they stop flowering due to overcrowding, they can be divided. Feed after flowering.
