Features

notes
Sarcococca ruscifolia is an apparently unassuming, compact evergreen shrub that comes into its own in the winter. Pretty, but inconspicuous white flowers appear in December with a remarkably sweet and lovely fragrance, and are followed by attractive (inedible) red berries which will stay on the branches until spring.
Insights

Plant close to an entrance or along a path to best appreciate the scent. Tough and reliable, it is an excellent plant for ground cover, especially on awkward slopes and banks; it also copes well with dry shade and urban pollution.
