Features

notes

This thorny, shiny leaved, evergreen shrub, which produces a mass of insignificant flowers in May – June, explodes with colour in the autumn. By mid-August Pyracantha Soleil d'Or is a mass of densely packed, yellow berries.

Insights

Commonly grown against walls or fences, the robust pyracantha will fan out over time to cover a large area unless pruned back. Its thorny, compact branches are a favourite location for nesting birds. If overlooked by the returning birds, the berries will remain in situ until Christmas.
